Policies and Procedures
Equal Opportunities
This nursery aims to demonstrate through its work that it positively values and respects children of all ethnic origins/racial groups, religions, cultures, linguistic backgrounds and abilities. Children of both sexes are positively encouraged by staff to participate in all activities.
This establishment considers it important to provide a range of experiences and an environment that will instil in the children a positive outlook towards people in our society whom they may see as different from themselves.
The nursery aims to provide all children with a broad and balanced learning environment that is committed to the integration of children with additional needs. Our philosophy is that all children should have the opportunity to develop to their full potential in the childcare environment.
Health and Safety
The nursery promotes a healthy learning environment for children and places a high importance of good hygiene practices for both children & staff.
We promote health and safety practices to ensure the environment indoors and out is fully risk assessed for the protection or all children.
Staff are trained in basic food hygiene and provide healthy snacks. Staff are also qualified with paediatric first aid qualifications
Safeguarding of Children
The nursery provides a healthy safe environment for all children in our care. All staff attends child protection training provided by The Early Years and Childcare Service. We operate a security password system to ensure anyone collecting the child is known to the family and is authorised to do so.
The staff are fully trained qualified nursery nurses who promote positive behaviour and promote the OFSTED daycare standards by following the expected procedures relating to the protection of children.
Parental Partnership
The nursery recognises that working in partnership with parents is of major value and importance to the nursery in enabling it to provide a happy, caring and stable environment for children and their parents. We recognise that parents are the first educators of their children and we aim to promote this in a welcoming environment. We aim to form a good relationship with parents so that information regarding their children (be it developmental, social or health related) can be exchanged easily and comfortably by nursery staff and parents.
Security
Every child's safety and welfare is of paramount importance to us at Lucker and we will not always know personally every family member or friend who may collect your child. At the time of enrolment we will agree with you a security password. Please inform staff if someone else is collecting your child and note that without this knowledge and the use of the password your child will not be released into anyone else's care.
The above policies are small overviews of our comprehensive policies, a full comprehensive pack of policies and procedures is available on enrolment.
